The wildcat girls’ basketball team will take the court tonight against Smithville at 5:30 in the main gym after a tough loss against Notre Dame De Sion high school this past Tuesday 57-43.

“Tonight we play a state-ranked team. It’ll be a tough game. I’m looking for us to come out and put our best effort in,” said head coach Mark Rorvig.

Senior captain Samantha Hurst has faith that the team will improve their performance in tonight’s game against Smithville.

“We recognize our mistakes and we’re going to do our best and play better tonight,” said Hurst.

Hurst felt that despite the loss against Sion, the team gave a lot of effort.

“As far as effort goes, we played hard. We were down four at halftime, and then our fundamentals went down in the second half,” said Hurst.

The loss to Sion puts the Wildcats at a 9-4 record on the season. Smithville is currently ranked number nine in the state.
